Ruhr-Universität Bochum (RUB)

The Ruhr Universität Bochum was founded in 1965 in the centre of a metropolitan region of over five million people and now hosts more than 30,000 students and about 4,000 staff members. Academic departments at RUB cover a broad range of disciplines including Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences. RUB has extensive experience with structured doctoral training. It hosts several nationally funded (German Research Council, Max-Planck Research School) and internationally funded (Marie Curie Early Stage Training) Graduate Research Schools. The Ruhr-Universität Bochum is an equal opportunity employer.

The Institute of Communication Acoustics (IKA) at RUB provides research and teaching expertise in the fields of statistical signal processing (speech and audio), model-based optimal signal processing, multi-rate signal processing, virtual acoustics and auditory acoustics. In an area of about 900 m2 IKA hosts staff offices, a seminar room, a library and specialized labs, such as an anechoic and a reverberant chamber, a modern speech communication lab with variable acoustics, an auditory measurement lab, and a digital signal processing teaching lab. Currently, the focus of research activities is advanced signal processing concepts for hearing instruments.
